The Day Travel Returns Will Be a Victory for Us All

As the world deals with the unprecedented health crisis of Coronavirus / COVID-19, the economic impact will be felt for years. Many industries and small businesses are already feeling the effects.

One of those industries is the travel industry. With borders shut down, quarantine orders and lock-downs in effect, and near-empty hotels and flights – the industry is losing ground by the day. The airlines, hotels, travel agencies and destinations are not the only ones losing out. Just like ripples of waves on the coast of a beach hideaway, there are ripple effects that come with this health pandemic.

Southwestern Sales Incentive Trips are the Best!

Although there were probably various other incentive trips offered in the past, we asked Dan Moore, President of Southwestern Advantage, to share what he remembered about Southwestern Advantage’s early trips after he begin selling books in 1974. “To the best of my knowledge, the first incentive trip was in 1974, and it was a ski trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, between Christmas and New Year’s. The whole company’s winners gathered together, about 600 dealers, on the slopes. We returned to the same location for two more years in a row. In 1977, the idea of a company-wide trip was replaced by Sales Director Group trips, including one to Mazatlan, Mexico.”

Since then, other companies within the family have followed suit, exploring incredible destinations such as Cuba, Iceland, the Maldives, Ireland, and Mexico. With the expert knowledge gained from planning our internal incentive trips, Southwestern Travel Group launched publically in 2016 provide full-service meeting and incentive trip travel along with inspired leisure travel.

Southwestern Travel Group Launches Rebrand

Our inspiration to rebrand Southwestern Travel Group stemmed from several key places. The first started in 2018 as we began to see our vision to hit over a million dollars in business start falling into place. It was a building year, a pivot point, where we went from a brand new business to closing more than a million dollars in contracts for 2019. This was truly our first big milestone. We knew that with this growth it was the right time to show the world just how fun, personal, and purposeful trip planning can be.

Million Dollar Club: Southwestern Travel Group

“May 29, 2012, is the day I started my career as the Executive Assistant to Henry Bedford, my mentor, coach, and personal friend. During my first year at Southwestern Family of Companies, I took on a major project to create an internally-managed travel program for the (then) 16 operating divisions, managing over $5 million in annual travel spend. In just a few years of collecting company travel data, conducting intense industry research, and perfecting the vendor contract negotiation process, we achieved a savings of over $500,000.”
