Team Spotlight: Sarah Ellis

The travel bug sparked for Sarah Ellis at a young age. After moving multiple times growing up and traveling a lot with her family, Sarah gained a natural sense of curiosity and independence. She has an innate passion for travel and feels inspired to see as much of the world as she can.

This passion for travel led Sarah to accepting her first job as a Sales Guide with Bus2Alps – a popular student tour operator based in Europe. Unlike most college graduates, Sarah was on the way to her new home in Florence, Italy on the day of her college graduation! She worked with college students from all over the world and became an expert at guiding trips to destinations like: Croatia, Greece, Switzerland and the Amalfi Coast.

After a year of working in Europe, Sarah returned to the U.S. to work for her current company, Southwestern Travel Group. Sarah currently serves as a Team Leader for the growing Student Group Division. As an education major, she has also always had a passion for students. Now working in student group travel, she feels it truly is the best of both worlds.

“I get to invest, inspire and impact students, while getting to share the wonderful world of travel with them.”

Sarah has become a pro at planning itineraries, customer care and problem solving. When it comes to problem solving, Sarah says it is most important to start with the facts – and never give up. She feels the most challenging problems can often be the most rewarding. Sarah enjoys working on the operations side of travel because every detail of a student group trip is crucial to the overall planning process.

Sarah says the most rewarding part of her job is getting to play a role in creating memories and experiences for students who may be traveling outside of their hometown for the first time ever. Her goal is to inspire others to love to travel as much as she does. She hopes to continue contributing to the growth of Southwestern Travel Group for many years to come.

“I love to travel because it puts me out of my comfort zone and opens up my mind. Getting to experience new cultures and seeing how other people live has been so eye opening for me. It has taught me to celebrate both our similarities and differences. It also is the ultimate reminder to collect memories, and not things. Trying new foods is a plus, too!”

At the end of the day, Sarah loves travel because she loves people, and has a heart for serving others. Travel allows her to build relationships and meet new people from all over the world. To Sarah, Travel is Transformative.
